Purchasing Manager

Responsible for the development, supervision, and direction of the category buyers, management of the day to day procurement department activities, and leading improvement initiatives.

This position has the authority to act as a purchasing agent for the Company with an approximate annual spend budget of $100MM.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

o Manage the day to day procurement department activities.

o Develop, supervise, and direct category buyers through positive performance management.

o Lead company change through process improvement, cost saving initiatives, and inventory reduction programs.

o Monitor and report on key performance indicator metrics and make business decisions to drive improvement, company profitability, and increased cash flow.

o Forecast price and market trends to identify changes in material price variance and support material budget development. o Perform cost and scenario analysis, work to manage and mitigate risk, monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.

o Work with Operations, Finance, Development, and Quality Assurance Teams to drive efficiency improvements and inter-departmental synergies.

o Attend weekly KPI meetings and action initiatives to improve quality, reduce cost and reduce inventory.

o Support new raw material launches and communicate information to purchasing department.

o Due to 24 hour production schedule, after hours and weekend communication may be required when issues arise.

o Project Change Management – Develops Plans; Coordinates projects; Communicates changes and progress; Completes projects on time and budget.

o Understand category buyer responsibilities and be able to perform their responsibilities in the event they are not able to.

o May preform other duties as required. Key Responsibilities:

o Develop, Supervise, and Direct Category Buyers

o Work to develop category buyers and provide meaningful business opportunities to enhance their professional experience (Metric: Personal Development Plans)

o Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies

o Ensure raw materials are in stock for required production (Metric: Raw Material Shortage Report) o Work to reduce inventory levels (Metric: Weeks on Hand / Inventory Exposure) o Look for cost saving opportunities (Metric: Material Price Variance)

o Ensure Quality of Raw Materials and Manage Vendors Quality Standards o Ensure product quality standards (Metric: Raw Material Rejections/Returns)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

o Minimum of 5 years of experience in FIELD and/or INDUSTRY

o Proven working experience as a manager o Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year College or University

o Demonstrated excellence in driving consistently strong profitable sales growth

o Experienced working with Procurement/Supply Chain Planning

o Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills

o Strong Microsoft Office skills o Financial and business acumen
