QA & Safety Supervisor

The QA Supervisor is responsible for developing, planning, assisting the Quality Assurance Manager in the QA department. This position is also accountable for delivering safety, health, and environmental solutions for the manufacturing facility.

The ideal candidate is responsible to ensure that company standards are exceeded with a targeted emphasis on continuous improvement, providing support, structure and documented formalized training for employees within the organization in all areas.

Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Act as backup SQF Practitioner
  • Organize and provide annual GMP, HACCP, SQF, and Allergen training for relevant personnel
  • Monitor training records for all employees and arrange training sessions by outside consultants
  • Prepare & maintain job descriptions for those employees that have an effect on food safety & quality
  • Support the Food Safety Management System to ensure the training of Food Safety Team Members, ensure that the Food Safety System is established, implemented, maintained; prerequisite programs, HACCP and HARPC (Preventive Controls), GMPs, SSOPs, GFSI, USDA, and NOP guidelines and policies are adhered to
  • Support the internal auditing program
  • Ensure audit readiness for all Internal Quality Audits, SQF, , FDA, USDA, NOP and all other 3rd Party audits, and respond to findings with preventive and corrective actions
  • Lead the execution of cultural changes and activities needed to support continuous improvement and QA&FS initiatives for all shifts
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and act as the primary liaison to outside laboratories, and to external regulatory agencies (FDA, USDA)
  • Ensure effective review, monitoring of QA and production records and escalate as needed
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with frontline employees, peers, and executives
  • Ability to drive positive change in both processes and systems and culture
  • Track, analyze, and lead initiatives for all quality and customer complaint issues within the plant-dashboard rollup
  • Complaints investigation and reduction.
  • QA program implementation
  • Mentor and develop QA technicians


  • Understand and comply with safe work practices and procedures to optimize efficiency and to maintain a safe working environment
  • Manages the administration of safety and environmental records, including accidents, near misses, property damage, good catches, and corrective action reports
  • Provide assistance to injured employees by coordinating the proper medical care
  • Develop/ update internal policies and programs to ensure compliance with company, local, state and federal polies and regulations relating to safety and environmental matters
  • Provides leadership and coaching to employees and supervisors with various safety related initiatives 
  • Analyzes safety performance results to establish goals and recommendations for new approaches to effect continual improvements and midigate risk
  • Development and implementation of training requirements.
  • Leads internal accident investigations and collaborates with leadership to offer solutions
  • Responds to all OSHA related requirements
  • Lead safety audits

As A Supervisor Within the Kettle Cuisine Team You Are Expected To:

  • Responsible for the training and development of the QA technicians
  • Direct the QA hourly employees based on job specific procedures
  • Monitor and act on performance of QA technicians
  • Process approvals and time and schedule adjustments through HRIS system
  • Manage any employee relations matters within team
  • Schedule QA technicians ensuring adequate coverage during production based on business needs
  • Model and support Kettles core values and safety culture

  • B.S. Degree in Food Science.
  • In lieu of a Bachelors Degree, demonstrated experience in Quality or Safety leadership role for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Able to build and maintain good working relationships with a wide variety of personalities and levels of staff members.
  • HACCP Certified, PCQI Certified, SQF Practitioner, with USDA and FDA experience
  • Knowledge of statistical process control, HACCP, sanitation, and hygienic design
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts and strong defect root cause analysis process
