Job Summary

The primary function of the Maintenance Technician I is to assist the Plant Engineer and Safety Manager in maintaining and repairing manufacturing equipment per the maintenance schedule or task lists as issues arise.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Start-up machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.
  • Read work orders and specifications for machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Inspect or test damaged parts and report defective areas that need repair.
  • Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work
  • Adjust- Setup packing equipment according to production schedule.
  • Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to equipment specifications.
  • Conduct inspection and repairs task to equipment and building according to maintenance calendar.
  • Fill out work order report (paper or computer based) and keep records in file.
  • Perform tin cat trap & fly light inspection on the weeks that pest control management service is not performed.
  • Conduct all tasks using task specific safety procedures and wearing proper PPEs
  • Active participation in Safety inspection, incident reporting and inspection.
  • Participate in BOS Safety program as required.
  • Additional responsibilities as required

Required Skills

  • Experience with Food Manufacturing equipment desired
  • Mechanical, hand and power tools experience desired
  • High School diploma or G.E.D certificate
  • Proficiency with PCs and tablet and preferred.
  • Must be comfortable communicating via email in English and Spanish
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) required
  • Forklift and Aerial lift equipment operation experience required

  • Physical Demands/Efforts
    • Work requires occasional physical exertion including some lifting of objects weighing up to 70 pounds
    • Willing and able to stand, bend, squat, kneel, lift and turn, as well as hand/arm movements such as grasping, reaching, pulling, pushing for long periods of time
    • Ability to push and pull loaded handcarts and dollies within the factory.
    • Willing and able to sit occassionly
    • Willing and able to walk to other areas of the plant often
    • Willing and able to type on computer for extended amount of time
  • Mental & Visual Demands
    • Work performed by this position requires a siginficant level of mental concentration to manage multiple complex tasks.
    • Work requires continuous visual effort for extended periods of time.
  • Work Environment and Hazards
    • Employee works in a manufacturing setting with frequent exposure to heat/cold, dust, chemicals, flamable lubricants or other factors that may require protective equiptment and still pose a hazard.
    • This position has regular exposure to hazards that could result in significate injury and lengthy loss of time at work.

Pay Range for Maintenance Technician I

The Maintenance Technician I base pay range $25.00 - $28.00/hourly. The listed salary range represents Kettle Cuisine’s good faith estimate for this position and represents the minimum and maximum for new hire salaries for the Union City, CA location only. Ranges will be reviewed on a regular basis. An employee’s rate of pay within the range is determined by their qualifications, relevant experience, and demonstrated performance over time. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth. The Maintenance Technician I position is eligible for our comprehensive benefits package. Kettle Cuisine and all its legal entities comply with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws.
