Job Summary

This will be a new role on the Food Safety & Quality team. (Hybrid Role)

  • Development of QA programs
  • Analysis and reporting of key FSQ metrics with insights
  • Supply chain FSQ compliance

The role is responsible for supporting the Food Safety & Quality department's programs and development and will execute Supply Chain Assurance requirements, such as auditing and documentation review, assist with deployment of FSQ programs and underwrite departmental needs as needed. Additionally, this role will conduct validations of FSQ Program effectiveness such as conducting written risk assessments, providing site QA Directors with support, collecting and reviewing evidence of Quality Program efficacy, and assist with gathering data used for setting directional goals for the department.

 

  • Employee typically works remote but will be required to be on site at all KC facilities when needed.
  • Employee works, from time to time, in a manufacturing setting with occasional exposure to heat/cold, dust, or other factors that may require protective equipment and still pose a hazard.
  • This position requires 25%-50% travel.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supporting the development and improvement of Kettle Cuisine’s Food Safety and Quality programs, processes, and systems.
  • Works closely with the Director of FSQ Programs to document and validate a robust and comprehensive risk-based food safety and quality assurance program.
  • Execute and maintain an overall internal audit schedule for all Kettle Cuisine sites.
  • Collaborate with various business functions to ensure clear protocols are in place and executed to support qualifying and on-boarding of new supplier partners, including first trial approvals and monitoring of on-going raw material compliance.
  • Maintain supplier quality performance metrics.
  • Analyze and report on FSQ metrics with insights to support internal quality review programs and external customer and business engagement
  • Assist with implementing improvement plans for the quality department.
  • Establish well-organized priorities and ensure team members understand expectations of the priorities and tasks.
  • Provide appropriate parties with regular feedback and timely updates.

Required Skills

  • Undergraduate degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or related STEM program
  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance management and food manufacturing, to include at least 2 years managing department.
  • Previous experience in quality assurance/food safety within a food processing environment preferred.
  • Proficient with data collection, analysis and reporting on meta data.
  • HACCP, SQF and PCQI Certified with a comprehensive knowledge of Supply Chain Quality Assurance.
  • Experience with SQF audits at the plant level.
  • Up to 25% of travel required as needed to support business needs.
  • Knowledge of various processing parameters.
  • Excellent team building, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and work efficiently in a cross-functional environment.
  • Must be a professional, customer driven manager of producing high quality food products while achieving company objectives and maintaining supplier relationships.
  • Strong leadership and management skills in a high paced environment.
  • Strong computer application skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point).

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Responsible for managing the timely reporting of daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports that support the QA departments.
  • Responsible for ensuring all QA programs are trained against and effective in nature.
  • Responsible for overseeing the internal auditing schedule.

Pay Range for Food Safety Quality Assurance Programs Manager

The Food Safety Quality Assurance Programs Manager base pay range $115,000 - $125,000 USD/annually. The listed salary range represents Kettle Cuisine’s good faith estimate for this position and represents the minimum and maximum for new hire salaries for the Lynn, MA location only. Ranges will be reviewed on a regular basis. An employee’s rate of pay within the range is determined by their qualifications, relevant experience, and demonstrated performance over time. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth. The Food Safety Quality Assurance Programs Manager position is eligible for our comprehensive benefits package and is eligible for the annual discretionary bonus program up to 10%.
