The Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist (EH&S Specialist) is responsible to manage, oversee and administer the environmental, health, safety and security programs for the Green Bay facility. Incumbent will ensure, promote, and continuously strive for a safe, secure, and healthy environment, company-wide, while monitoring compliance of all applicable laws.
As a leader in the facility for this function, the Specialist will provide coaching and direction to all leadership, employees and safety staff on policy and process interpretation, driving decisions to meet all environmental, safety and OSHA legislative requirements as well as establishing company policies and processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner with management team to develop and lead cultural transformation with respect to employee safety mindset through implementation of a behavior-based safety program across the business.
- Achieve a reduction of hazards and risks.
- Hazard and risk analysis/ improvement of audit scores
- Reduction of accidents/ improvement of scores
- Track, develop, report and administer key metrics in the area of safety incidents and worker’s compensation claim experience.
- Lead internal accident investigations and root cause analysis and collaborates with leadership team to offer solutions.
- Primary contact, working with Human Resources, for worker’s compensation carrier in order to investigate, report and follow-up on worker’s compensation claims and return to work programs.
- Analyze OSHA and workers’ compensation injury and illness records to direct the implementation of specific loss prevention programs to prevent reoccurrence.
- Lead a robust and active Safety Committee
- Insure regular and on-going health and safety activities are conducted and followed through on (i.e., weekly and annual internal audits, daily safety topic at employee huddles, PPE checks, etc.)
- Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure supervisors and managers promote a successful safety attitude, confidence in leadership’s commitment to safety, and teamwork to achieve improved results.
- Manage initiatives that drive improvements in health and safety compliance and performance across the operation.
- Implement, conduct and maintain plant safety training programs, JSA’s and SOPs through use of Alchemy and other training programs.
- Monitor developing EH&S federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and risk initiatives; analyze potential impacts to business system operations; provide management with recommendations and approach as appropriate.
- Participates in company-wide special projects as required.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Associate’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field
- In lieu of an Associate’s degree, demonstrated experience in a safety role for a minimum of 3 years.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and/or maintaining robust Behavior Based Safety Programs
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, state and federal regulations
- Knowledge of food manufacturing a plus
- Experience with LOTO, Confined Space, and PSM
- Knowledge of wastewater and storm water regulations
- Working knowledge of Process Safety with hazardous chemicals
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and leadership.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills to all levels
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

Salary range: $65-90k, DOE
