Safety Coordinator

Location:  Morgan Hill, CA

Department:  HR

Position Type:  Full-time

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Mitigate risk for safety and workers' compensation claims
  • Work with medical providers to ensure that injured workers and getting the care that they need in a timely manner
  • Maintain OSHA logs and all other required documents and postings
  • Manage modified duty program
  • Investigate injuries and near misses, perform root cause analysis, document findings, and make recommendations
  • Ensure that the IIPP is up-to-date
  • Develop and deliver safety training as well as guide walk throughs and inspections
  • Manage lock out tag out program, training, keys, and locks
  • Maintain training logs and documentation
  • Coordinate activities of Safety Committee
  • Implement safety incentive programs
  • Order and distribute personal protective equipment including safety boots, hard hats, safety glasses, etc.
  • Assist with OSHA audits
  • Coordinate safety evaluations on new and existing equipment and processes and maintain documentation on standard operating procedures
  • Coordinate confined space and other safety programs

Qualifications and Experience

  • Associate's degree or equivalent in a related field
  • 3-5 years' experience maintaining workers' compensation programs in a manufacturing environment. Food industry experience preferred. Must have experience working effectively with safety programs

Required Attributes

  • Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Basic computer knowledge (Excel and Word)
  • Food safety knowledge a plus
  • Can read, write and speak English Spanish is helpful.
  • Can follow and retain instructions
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • OSHA 30 hour preferred
