Senior Lead

Location:  Morgan Hill, CA

Department:  Production

Position Type:  Full-time

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The Sr Lead is responsible for supervising his/her designated area including work processes to achieve daily and weekly production goals, quality assurance standards and delivery targets. Role is expected to ensure accurate documentation of production activities and good manufacturing practices. He/she will lead and train production employees, ensure all company policies and operating procedures are being followed.
  • Role is responsible to plan and assign work in a daily basis
  • Position requires lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds in some cases. This position requires walking or standing most of the time during the shift and may include stooping, crawling and crouching. Position may be required to work weekends and/or holidays.
  • Lead the daily operation for the designated area(s), ensuring all required functions are planned and executed properly, efficiently and safely
  • Ensures all production, safety and food safety daily goals are achieved
  • Establishes daily priorities to assure acceptable operating performance
  • Oversee shift start up procedures
  • Lead start up meetings or any team meeting required at the floor level
  • Oversee shift handoff procedures are flawless to promote a good start for the upcoming shift
  • Audit and confirm that changeovers are done effectively
  • Verify that all standard operating procedures are being followed
  • Reports out shift key performance indicators on a daily basis to Team Manager and/or other members of the management team
  • Reviews and signs off formal documentation required for QA (HACCP, forms, etc)
  • Knowledge to execute, review, audit ERP transactions accurately
  • Engages team members of support areas (Maintenance, Quality, Safety, etc) as needed to resolve issues
  • Schedule team members and manage breaks and lunches
  • Oversees cleanliness and tidiness in areas at all times
  • Promotes and enforces food safety policies and procedures as well as good manufacturing practices
  • Ensures safety policies and procedures are being followed
  • Train and coach operations employees to comply with operational standards and company policies and procedures, as well as, to help them achieve next level success
  • Takes active lead with new employees and temp labor
  • Keeps accurate records as required to enable clear traceability
  • Provide timely feedback
  • Communicates with other Sr Leads and Team Manager of any updates, issues or changes across all shifts
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

  • 2-5 years' related experience including supervision of at least 10-15 employees, preferably in the Food Industry
  • HACCP trained (preferably)
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Sharepoint)
  • Possess analytical skills to identify problems, review courses of action and make decisions
  • Possess problem solving skills to develop feasible solutions to problems, recommend actions and refer problems to upper management when necessary
  • Possess good communication skills to effectively convey ideas, both written and oral
  • Able to effectively read and understand written information, including memos, reports, bulletins, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Possess strong mathematical skills such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions
  • Strong time management skills to meet deadlines balanced with a strong attention to detail and quality
  • Maintain interpersonal relationships which encourage openness and trust
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment
  • Possess good judgment, dependability, adaptability and punctuality
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to foster culture, provide vision and inspire action

  • Ability to work all scheduled shifts, on time
