Souper Striders Walk For Hunger

On May 2nd, a team of Kettle Cuisine employees participated in Project Bread's Walk for Hunger. Team Souper Striders laced up their sneakers and walked alongside 42,000 walkers to help raise a whopping $3.8 million for the fight against hunger.

Since 1969, the Walk for Hunger has been a tradition in Massachusetts. Today, the Walk has become the country's oldest continual pledge walk and the largest one-day fundraiser to alleviate local hunger.

On the first Sunday in May each year, more than 40,000 Walkers and 2,000 Volunteers start off from the Boston Common weaving through Boston, Brookline, Newton, and Cambridge to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors. In Massachusetts, more than 554,000 people do not have enough food to eat.  The Walk for Hunger raises millions of dollars for the 400 emergency food programs that support families in crisis.

We are honored to have the opportunity to help make a positive difference in our own community and to play a small role in the fight against hunger and we had a fun time doing it.

Issue 5: June/July Edition

New England Clam Chowder.  It's the quintessential summer time comfort food.  It's deliciously rich and indulgent, and the first spoonful instantly harkens pleasant mental images of the ocean coast.
As you might suspect, here in New England we can never seem to get enough of our clam chowder.  Therefore, with spoons in hand, we challenged Chef Joseph to create a meal for a family of four using only two bowls of our New England Clam Chowder.  And, as always he exceeded our expectations with a lightened up, well balanced seafood casserole.
In addition to Chef Joseph's recipe for New England Seafood Casserole, this issue is packed with information and tips including an interesting summary of the new Dietary Guidelines for Americans.  Thank you as always for being a part of our community and we hope you enjoy this issue of Soups On.
